Alexander  A. Benediktov

Entomologist, assistant of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Area of scientific researches - taxonomy and communication of orthopteroid insects. Author of names for three genus, one subgenera and more than 30 taxonomic acts (new combinations, new synonymy, new status, etc.) in systematics of Acridoidea.

First discovered the vibratory communication in Orthoptera:

• grouse locusts (Tetrigoidea, Tetrigidae) (1998, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, WWW),

• wingless bush (Grylloidea, Mogoplistidae, Arachnocephalus vestitus) (2001, WWW),

and non-specific vibrations in Heteroptera:

• firebugs (Pyrrhocoridae, Pyrrhocoris apterus) (2007, 2007, WWW).


Took part in more than 20 expeditions in Russia (the European part, White Sea, the Caucasus, Tuva, Altai and Sayan Mountains), Mongolia (Uvs-noor ajmak), Ukraine (the Crimea, Proval'skaia steppe, Askania-Nova) and Hungary (foothills Alps).
